Very well stated thoughts. Thank you for sharing. I have reached out to Cuevas without luck but will try again after the trial to hopefully get a look into how he was feeling and thinking. This is a hard case and I do not envy those who will be chosen to sit on the jury.

I had long thoughts as to this case and the events just after the brutal homicide of the mom. I wondered at my own actions if such an event had transpired. And, I believe in the rule of law. But ask…”Would the murder have gone unpunished?” Would the suspect have fled? And this? Would Raul Cuevas be likely as a repeat offender?
And, I looked at the map. Clearly, Urrita was some distance from the scene so had transportation. How far would he have gone? How did Cuevas know to find him? And what was his mind set?
If, for instance, I was selected to a jury, I might have real problems as to reach a guilty verdict. That, for the natural thoughts that would protect, hold safe the mother. And, she was rather young, with a longer life to live. Cut short. A sad story, truly. I think Mr. Cuevas might find courage and take responsibility but where I am hoping the LE and prosecutor might craft out a define to the dreadful face of the mom’s homicide and the actions of a son.
I perhaps feel that way as trying to understand the motivation, and where little of the final meeting saw death to Urrita. Dreadful outcome but was it his actions that drove subsequent events? And, what would Cuevas be willing to accept? I am following this case, wondering where the end will be. M.

As of today, Raul Cuevas is out on $100,000 bail. His trial is scheduled for May 8, 2024. I am looking to get more information on the case and will continue to follow. For now, there’s not a lot of progress. But, he is out so that’s a win for him.

Just checking on the status of the Cuevas case. The only thing I see is your posting of Preliminary Hearing Contined (May 7, 2023). Has anything happened since then.
