Nampa, Idaho – Raul Alexander Cuevas, 31, has been charged with first degree murder of the man suspected of killing Raul’s mother, Michelle Luna, 52.
Tuesday, March 28, 2023, Nampa dispatch receives a 911 call at 8:43 p.m. reporting a stabbing in the 2100 block of W. Grouse Street. First responders arrive on scene where they locate an adult female, who is later identified as Michelle Luna. Luna is pronounced deceased at the scene. Jesus Urrutia is quickly identified as a suspect in the stabbing.
Just before 7 a.m. the next morning, Ada County 911 received a call reporting a stabbing in the parking lot of an Avim gas station. Ada County deputies find Urrutia slumped over in a car, engine running. Deputies pull Urrutia from the vehicle and beginning administering first aid until paramedics arrive and transport him to the local hospital. Urrutia is declared deceased just after 8 a.m.
Meanwhile, Ada County Sheriff’s Office identify Raul Cuevas as a suspect in Urrutia’s stabbing. Deputies locate in at a gas station nearby. Unspecified evidence is collected and they talk with Cuevas. At 6:59 a.m. Cuevas is arrested and taken to the Ada County Jail.
Cuevas has been charged with murder in the first degree, a felony. He was arraigned on March 30 at 1:30 p.m. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 13, 2023 at 8:30 a.m. If convicted, first degree murder in the state of Idaho carries a sentence of imprisonment for life or death.
Police have the case listed as an active investigation. According to a press release, deputies and detectives are pursuing several different leads.

He should NOT be charged with murder can you imagine how he felt after that guy stabbed his mom? He should be able to take revenge for his mom. I would’ve done the same thing. Especially within 24 hrs. He wasn’t even thinking clearly he just had rage. Obviously he loved his mom.. let him out to mourn and grieve

Michelle Luna was my very best friend…we literally lived 1 block from each other and we even worked together and rode to work and back together!! My friend deserves justice!! Raul disposed of part of scum of the earth!!! Unfortunately and sadly Michelle’s life was taken and the state of idaho failed!! He was supposed to be serving a 23 year sentence for rape and other dangerous heinous crimes in which he was let out of prison for!!!! REST IN PEACE MICHELLE LUNA LOVE VICKIE
